It's not just "women and LGBTQ people." No American will be spared by this 6-3 conservative court. The changes will be in so many ways that people aren't even considering. This nomination boils down to a battle for fundamental human rights. While Barrett has a thin track record as a judge of only three years, she has made perfectly clear she personally opposes legal contraception, any form of abortion, and equal rights under the law for LGBTQ people. To top it off, she is a longstanding member of an ultra-right-wing offshoot of the Catholic Church that teaches (and enforces) wives’ subjugation to the “authority” of their husbands.
